♥ Theme Thursday: Fantastic Fan Art

Hello! Welcome to this week's Theme Thursday. (If you're reading this post on Goodreads, I apologize for the formatting. Goodreads does some wacky things to it).

Like most kids, when I was little, I used to love drawing and coloring. I used to take my boxes of crayolas--all organized by hues (yep, I was nutty from the get-go), and make up my own characters and write little stories to go with them.

As I got older, I continued to draw and write. Before I realized that writing is what made me the happiest, I followed the art route and studied media and animation. So it's no surprise that I'm a big fan of animation. I loved cartoons when I was a kid, and I still love them now. Personally, I don't think cartoons are what they used to be. I'm a child of the 80s. Great for TV, music, and movies. Not so great for fashion. Anyway, some of the stuff they used to show us kids back then on Saturday morning wouldn't fly by the sensors now.

When I get the chance, I enjoy watching everything from Pixar movies, to Dreamworks pictures, anime movies and TV series, Yaoi (in both formats) and those awesome Marvel and DC animated shows and movies. I don't get the chance to draw so much anymore, but maybe someday soon, I'll get some sketching done and post that up. In the meantime, I thought I'd share some of the artists who do some amazing fan art, and yes, a lot of it are characters that have totally been shipped (put in a relationship).

One of my favorites is Cris-art. The girl has some amazing talent. Her favorite pairing is Billy Kaplin (Wiccan) and Teddy Altman (Hulking) from Marvel's Young Avengers.
What I love about these two is that they're an actual couple. It took Marvel 7 years to give Billy and Teddy their first on screen kiss. They weren't the first gay characters to kiss onscreen, but they were the first established gay couple to do so. Billy and Teddy had been together for years in the comic, yet fans never got to see them kiss. You can read more about it here.

What I love most about Chris-art's work is the tenderness she draws between the characters. My favorite pieces are the ones with these two just being together and in love. Despite being super heroes, it's the regular every day scenes that make the most impact. Visit Chris-art's tumblr here for more of here amazing work and for some naughtier work as well.
