♥ Welcome to Remi & Charlie's Birthday Bonanza!

Posted by: Charlie Cochet in , ,

Hello everyone! Welcome to our little birthday celebration! Help yourself to a cocktail mixed by our cocktail expert: Remi.
Highball anyone? How about a Sidecar, Mint Julep? If whiskey's more your thing, I'm sure Hawk will be more than happy to assist. Oh, and Remi's even baked some cupcakes.

Feel free to shake a leg while the Jazz is hot. I'd keep an eye on these fellas, though. A little giggle-water and the hands start roaming. Not that I'm complaining!

For a chance to win a prize, all you have to do is leave a comment on this or any of the birthday posts between today-- August 16th and Saturday, August 18th at midnight (EST).

Via random.org, winners and their prizes will be chosen randomly and announced on Sunday, August 19th here on the blog. You will also be contacted by email to arrange delivery of your prize, so please make sure to leave an email address.
Prizes include eBooks and more! You can check out what's up for grabs here.

Let's get things rolling!

Remi and I are both Leos, raawr! When's your birthday? What's your favorite way to celebrate? Small and intimate with a few friends or family members, or an extended celebration of parties and weekend trips?

Gemini here, and I prefer the low-key approach to celebrations of all kinds. ;)

Dang, those cupcakes look delicious! Now I want one. Cupcakes are perfectly acceptable breakfast food, right?

@Jordan L. Hawk
Hi Jordan! I enjoy most types of celebrations, but I admit that sometimes doing things low-key is just perfect.

Cupcakes are one of those versatile foods that can be eaten for any meal. That's the magic of cupcakes. Breakfast, Lunch, snack, Dinner. Cupcakes do it all. Lol

Hey Charlie!

Thanks for inviting us all to this awesome birthday bash. We've already discussed that I'm a big ol'Leo as well, but I only roar when provoked. Been known to growl, though. And purring is a given ;-) I love ALL types of celebrations. Mostly intimate and low key stuff - yet I'm game for huge parties and extended adventures when the mood strikes. I hope one of those cupcakes is red velvet. That would make my day!

Happy Birthday to you and Remi!

@TRR

You're most welcome! My growl is definitely worse than my bite, and oh yes, we Leos do like to purr. ;) Of course one of those cupcakes is red velvet. Can't have a party without red velvet. Mmmm....

Ooh, fun party already! I'm a Capricorn, so it's only in the past few years that I don't see nonstop "you're only in it for work and money" horoscopes. I love baking, so I always spend a few days researching birthday cakes before making one for myself (the past few years, it's been chocolate layers with Rose Levy Beranbaum's Midnight Ganache recipe on top, and cream cheese filling between the layers). I usually love to get away if I can (even if it's just for a hockey game or something), but the extended family usually insists on a dinner one night (often the official day, which can put a crimp in plans). And as for me, while I'd never turn my nose up at a cupcake, a cake slice just seems so much more substantial, like a meal. (Yes, birthday cake for a few breakfasts after is always the best way to wind things up.)

Hi Trix! Cake is my Kryptonite! Baking them is so much fun, though I don't think I could conjure up anything fancy, especially if it doesn't come out of a box! Ooh, I agree that having cake the next morning is just delicious. I like it with a glass of milk. I'm such a big kid. Lol.

Hello everyone! A big thank you to all for dropping by. The flowers on the cupcakes are edible. I learned how to put them together from a charming little baker off Charing Cross Road during my time in London.

I would perhaps advise having one while you can, as I've noticed Hawk eyeing them. He says he doesn't like sweets, yet such treats have been known to mysteriously disappear from the kitchen. He truly is a crafty one.

Scorpio! My birthday is just before Halloween. I prefer no celebration or a very low-key one. For the last few years my present to myself / celebration was going to yaoi con. (not this year--dates changed)

A blog celebration is a wonderful idea, btw

hayley.b.james@gmail.com

@Hayley B. James
Hiya! Wow, that's a great birthday present! I'm all for treating oneself to a prezzie! I'll have to buy you a pre-birthday cocktail at GRL!

Another Scorpio here, and an old and wrinkly one at that! At my age it's best to ignore birthdays but if I do celebrate I tend to curl up with a warm fire, a well stuffed ereader and a box of Thornton's Continental.

I hope you, and Remi, have a wonderful birthday *hugs*

Hi!!
*singing (very of key)* lol
Happy, happy birthday, from all of us to you,
we're wishing you a happy birthday, and all your dreams come true!
I hope you have fun! Ill definitely be stopping by. Wouldnt miss it! ;) What are your plans to celebrate this weekend? (Besides here) lol
Im a Virgo. Next month is my birthday. My favorite way to celebrate is with my immediate family. Just parents and siblings. I dont like being the center of attention, and my birthday could go on unnoticed and i wouldnt mind a bit. My parents through me a surprise sweet 16 and to put it plainly, it was hell. (Sorry for the language) I have a huge family and they were all here, as well as several friends. There was lots of fighting. Not very fun. I prefer something simple and small. How about you? Thanks for letting us celebrate with you!!

@Shadow
opps. forgot email: shadowluvs2read(at)gmail(dot)com

thank you!

@elingregory
Hi Elin! Thank you so much. Ooh, you naughty thing. You said the magic word: Thornton's. Yum. That sounds like a heavenly plan!

@Shadow
Hi Shadow! Aw, thanks so much for the song! I'm going to go out to dinner with the folks. I love going out for a meal, so I'm looking forward to it.

I understand what you mean about being the center of attention at a big family shindig. I had a small sweet 15s, because that's what we Latinos celebrate, but I'm not into that sort of thing, and my teenage years were awkward enough! So I'm very glad to be all grown up now where I get to do my own thing. Lol

I quote enjoy parties with friends, but I'm more into the small close-nit group kind of thing, a nice meal, a few drinks, a little get together. Chocolate! I prefer to be either at home or at a friends house so if I get a bit tipsy I don't have to worry about finding my way home. ;)

Happy birthday! I'm an Aries. For my birthday I prefer cheesecake, maybe a dinner with my husband and without kids, and some quiet time to write. :-)

@Kim Fielding

Aw, thanks, Kim! Good choice! Cheesecake is yummy. So many kinds to choose from! I had one chocolate type one at the Cheesecake Factory for my birthday one year. Can't remember which one it was , but it was epic! I mean this thing was like a meal, it was so huge, and it had so many layers! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Birthday! Those cup cakes do look good although I'd have to force myself to destroy the beautiful flowers (if I was allowed to eat cake any more *sniffle*).

I'm a Taurus and my ideal birthday involves me getting away from it all - my best so far was a weekend alone in Holland looking at tulips and windmills.

@marasmine
Hi Mara! Thank you so much! Sorry you can't have cake. I'm sure Remi could whip up something for you. He's a little demon in the kitchen. A much better cook than I am!

Holland, wow! That sounds amazing! I bet it was beautiful. Seems like it would be quite peaceful too.

I'm a February baby and I like small gatherings. one of my favorite birthday's happened when my friends surprised me at work with a card and cake. It was awesome!

@Magickfae
Hi Magick! Aw, that was really great of your friends. Surprises like that are amazing! Thanks so much for stopping by! :D

I want a cupcake, but only if the guy in the hat is serving it... I am a Virgo, the virgin **blushes furiously**

@Tina

Thanks so much for coming, Tina! Well, I'm sure our handsome friend can oblige. He seems to be loosening his tie in order to do so for some reason. ;)

A Virgo, ay? Well then, it'll be your birthday very soon I imagine! So a happy birthday to you in advance!

Happy Birthday! I'd love to have a cupcake, they look delicious :)

I am pisces and like to celebrate with my family and close friends.

moonsurfer123 at gmail dot com

@Anas
Hi Anas! Our first Pisces. Welcome! I have several family members who are Pisces. They all seem to love being born in Feb/March!

Thank you so much for joining in! :D

Hppy Birthday. Everything looks so good. Love cupcakes. I am a Cancer. Born the 1st of July. I like to just celebrate with family with a small meal and cake or spending the day going to a movie. Just something for myself.
Sue B
katsrus(at)gmail(dot)com

@katsrus
Thank you so much, Sue! Our first Cancer! Happy belated birthday!

That sounds like a perfect birthday. A nice meal, cake, a movie, and a little relaxation. I feel more relaxed just thinking about it!

My birthday was yesterday, the 15th! So happy birthday to both of you, fellow Leos.

And because my life is generally taken up with dealing with other people, I usually celebrate my birthday by myself. Isn't that terrible? But I really enjoy the alone time.

@andys
Hi andys! A fellow Leo! Happy birthday to you too! Celebrating your birthday on your own isn't terrible at all. I've done it plenty of times, even done so with some holidays. It's nice to get some time to yourself, and I know when things get too crazy, I need a break away from everything and just bask in the peace and quiet for a little. Preferably with some nice bubbly and some chocolate. Perfect.
Thanks for dropping by!

Happy Birthday to both of you! I'm an Aquarius, but I can't swim. Darn it. Love the cupcakes - the decorations on them are so bright and beautiful, and they look so delicious. Prefer small and personal for my celebration.

@Jbst
Thank you, Jbst! Don't feel bad, I can't swim either! Many have tried to teach me and failed. If my feet don't touch the bottom, I get kind of panicky. Well, I suppose I can sort of swim, just not float. I have no idea. A lot of flailing is involved. Lol.

So far folks seem to enjoy a nice, small and personal evening. Nice!

Happy Birthday! I think I would like a small intimate party with the fella in the party hat! I really do only have small parties with a few friends. Partially because I am a bit of a loner and partially because a big party is an expensive hassle! I am a Taurus and just like Kim I love a homemade cheesecake for a cake! Have a wonderful celebration!
OceanAkers @ aol.com

@Juliana
Hi Juliana! Thanks so much! You're all tempting me with cheesecake now. Throwing a big party doesn't scare me so much as cleaning up after a big party! Which makes smaller parties that much more appealing! Lol.

I'm a Scorpio...our celebrations always seem be food related...Birthdays are usually favorite restaurants...Last time it was P F Chang... they are sooo good!

@Michelle
oops...forgot email..got to excited about dinner...damn diet!
chellebee66 at gmail dot com

@Michelle
Food related celebrations are always the best, in my opinion. Lol. So much yummy goodness to choose from! I have the same dilemma. Should I splurge on my birthday, or be good and stick to my diet. What to do?! :D

A true Pisces over here :). I don't do a lot of birthday parties to be honest. But if I can, I prefer to go for vacation by myself (since I'm single) to celebrate it.

Ami
amie_07(at)yahoo(dot)com

Scorpio. I like small gatherings of family and friends (but not necessarily comingled). :)

Happy birthday!!

@at-midnight
Hi Ami! Ooh, a nice vacation sounds wonderful. I'm single too, so I pretty much wander all over the place. Lol. I'm also pretty easily entertained, so just sitting somewhere cozy with a book makes me perfectly content. Thanks for stopping by!

@Chris
Hey Chris! I have to agree with you on that. I prefer to keep the two separate. As amusing as it would be, I wouldn't be able to let my hair down with the parental units around. Lol. Thank you so much, and thanks for dropping by! Hugs!

Happy birthday!
I'm a November baby along with just about everyone else in my family which means birthday celebrations kind of...aren't and tend to be just some kind of family gathering, nothing special. So! I much prefer going on trips with a small group of friends.

Happy birthday, dude! I'm a virgo here. My birthday is at the beginning of September, and I'm kind of notorious for having bad birthdays -- getting ditched by the mom so she could go on a date, having to fly out for someone else's baptism/wedding/other event scheduled for Labor Day weekend, eating a bad peach and getting food poisoning (that was my 21st), etc. I prefer a very small affair, just dinner with the immediate family.

What about you?

@eeper

Hi Eeper! I get he whole big family party thing, and it can get pretty overwhelming at times! Going on a trip with friends sounds like a fantastic way to celebrate. Thanks for stopping by!

@Ana Bosch
Hey Ana! Oh no! Septembers do seem to be busy months don't they? Well, you know what that means. You'll have to join me and Hayley B. James for some birthday drinks at GRL! It's a little belated for yours and early for hers, but I think we can make an exception.

I go through phases where I like to go out, and times where I just want to have a quiet night in. But mostly I prefer something small and cozy with good friends. Far less stressful!

Virgo here...I like hanging out with family...good food and lots of conversation.
Yvette
yratpatrol@aol.com

Happy Birthday, Charlie! I'm a Leo and my favorite way to celebrate my birthday is going to a nice restaurant with my family.
Kyra
mysanctuary_69(at)yahoo(dot)com

Solidly in the Aries -- April 3! I've noticed that usually when my birthday falls on a Sunday, it's Easter Sunday (not EVERY time, but overwhelmingly). I don't really celebrate as such, but we usually try to go out to dinner or something. Of course, with Hubby being military, more often than not it's just me and the kids, and when it's one of those times, I need to just not be responsible for things like food or my own cake...

@YvetteHi Yvette! Virgo, that means your birthday's coming up soon, so Happy Birthday to you in advance! Hope you have a great one. That sounds like a great way to celebrate, :D

@kyra87
Thank you so much, Kyra! Hey, another Leo! I love eating out, so going to a restaurant to celebrate is what I tend to do most often. No having to clean up afterward!

@Tracy Faul
Hi Tracy! It's always tough when your birthday lands on a holiday. I know folks whose birthdays fall on Halloween, Valentine's Day, and Christmas. The Christmas one must be the toughest because everyone's crazy busy getting ready for that holiday they tend to forget everything else. There have been times where it's just been me on my birthday, so I tended to just treat myself to a nice meal or takeout and indulge in some epic form of cake with a movie. It was great, but then again, at times I can be a bit of a lone lion. Lol

Mmm... I'm one of those Libras, balanced and always thinking about what would keep things balanced. It was always fun to celebrate a few days into the school year, with Fortune Cookies for treats at school. We'd always have presents and a cake and a small party in the house.

I like small, intimate celebrations when I have them, luxurious dinners usually, and just time with loved ones. As I near my 50th, I'm enjoying them more.

@H.J. Raine
Hiya H.J.! Ooh, fortune cookies for treats at school sounds amazing! Our school used to sell kids crispy creme donuts! Can you believe that? And then they wonder why so many kids are unhealthy. Luxurious dinner sounds dreamy. Seems like you've got the balance just right!

Happy, Happy Birthday :-) Hope you're celebrating all month long! Never celebrate for just one day when you can milk it for longer ;-)

smaccall AT comcast.net

Happy birthday :)

My bday is the 2nd week in January, I'm a capricorn & show it in many ways *giggles*.

My favorite way to celebrate is when the immediate family gets together @ mom & dad's or one of my sister's places (they all live within 10 min of eachother) and we cook dinner there & get to sit around chatting & I can spend time with my nieces & nephew. I get all kinds of great hugs & kisses from them to last me through the next year!

Brandi

@Bookwyrm369
Aw, thank you so much! There's definitely an extended celebration going on! I like the way you think! ;)

@Brandi
Thank you, Brandi! That sounds like an absolutely lovely way to celebrate! And who wouldn't want to get lots of hugs and kisses!
